What are Concrete slabs?

Concrete slabs make up an important portion of construction elements of buildings. It is a large flat horizontal concrete slab which is used to construct the floor and roof. Concrete slabs are used to construct the floor of homes or on the ground or as a foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation is not for those with weak hearts. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors follows the strict procedure for installing concrete slabs.

Safety is our first priority for us in all of the concrete work we undertake. Before we start any work, we ensure that we're equipped with safety equipment. We wear gloves, long sleeves, rubber boots and gloves to protect our eyes. These protect us against concrete splashes which could cause harm to our health and well-being.

Following the same process as before, we will follow the following steps:

Step 1: Preparation on site

No matter how small or big the project is no matter how big or small, we will adhere to the same procedure. Cleaning the site is the very first stage in all of our projects. Before we begin, we clear up all debris and clean up the site. We make sure all materials are available on-site during the process of preparation. We plan the delivery of materials prior to the actual work. This helps us complete the project within the timeline we have established.

Step 2 Step 2: Reinforce concrete slabs with steel and build concrete forms

Once the site has been cleared and prepared, we will proceed to the installation of concrete forms constructed of wire mesh. Concrete forms are strong barriers that hold the concrete mixture in the right place. Concrete forms force concrete to take on a particular shape or form. Concrete reinforced by rebar can be used for bigger structures. This allows the concrete surface is more durable.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We use a concrete truck to make things easier. It also helps ensure concrete materials are mixed correctly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. But in most of our projects the use of a concrete mixer is required.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

Once the concrete has been mixed, we immediately put a concrete slab into the form. We do it carefully as we pour the concrete mix in order to ensure that we do not create too many air pockets. Air pockets can be created by too little mortar in the gaps around the aggregate. Concrete is made by spreading the mix evenly throughout the form.
